Senauto Expo: Tunisia consolidates its strategic positioning within the African automotive ecosystem

At the Senauto Expo in Senegal , Tunisia reaffirmed its ambition to strengthen its position in the African automotive ecosystem and to accelerate its integration into regional value chains.

This participation is part of a clear dynamic: to develop new industrial partnerships, identify opportunities for intra-African cooperation and sustainably structure the Tunisian presence on the continent.

Already recognized as a competitive industrial platform and a strategic hub for Africa, Tunisia is positioning the automotive industry as a priority driver of growth. Its ecosystem covers the entire value chain: digital engineering, electrical wiring, mechanics, metallurgy, technical plastics and, now, software engineering.

In a rapidly changing sector, where more than 50% of the value of automotive components now relies on software and embedded electronics, Tunisia has strong competitive advantages:

  • a skilled human capital,

  • a structured industrial fabric,

  • recognized expertise in engineering and R&D,

  • an ability to adapt to international standards.

The SALMA Dialogue Business Forum session amplified this momentum by increasing Tunisia's visibility among African public and private stakeholders. The event also highlighted the key role of the Tunisian Automotive Association (TAA) in providing strategic support to the sector and promoting the Tunisian automotive industry internationally.

To analyze the challenges related to sustainable industrialization and the integration of African value chains, the interventions of Felix Sarrazin , Project Manager at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH , and Ibrahim Debache , member of the Steering Committee of the Tunisian Automotive Association, provided strategic insight into the prospects for regional cooperation.

The equation is clear: the future of the African automotive industry will not be built by juxtaposing national ecosystems, but by intelligently integrating skills, industrial capabilities and technological expertise.

Tunisia has chosen to be a driving force in this transformation.
