      The exchanges also highlighted the structuring role of the AfCFTA in building regional value chains. The objective is clear: to promote industrial specialization, strengthen complementarities between countries and facilitate the integration of African suppliers into interconnected ecosystems.

      Without this integration logic, the rise of the sector will remain limited.

      Despite the identified potential, several obstacles In particular, the speakers pointed out:

      • still insufficient access to industrial financing,
      • fragmentation of regulatory frameworks,

    The Tunisian Automotive Association strengthens its international presence in Paris during the Automotive Personality of the Year Awards.

    The Tunisian Automotive Association confirmed its international positioning by participating in the Automotive Personality of the Year Award ceremony, organized by Le Journal de l'Automobile , in the prestigious setting of the Maison de la Chimie in Paris.

    This leading event in the automotive sector recognized Christophe Périllat , CEO of Valeo , who was praised for his strategic vision and leadership in the transformation of the industry.


    Tunisia's strong positioning as a co-innovation hub

    On this occasion, Myriam Elloumi , President of the TAA, spoke at a high-level panel bringing together key decision-makers from the international industrial and technological ecosystem, including:

    Energy attribute certificates in Tunisia: TAA contributes to structuring a renewable energy market

    The Tunisian Automotive Association (TAA) took part in the discussions surrounding the implementation of Energy Attribute Certificates (EAC) in Tunisia, a key mechanism aimed at supporting the energy transition and structuring the traceability of electricity from renewable sources.

    This initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy and several international partners, has taken an important first step with the organization of a strategic workshop in Tunis, bringing together the main players in the energy and industrial sector.


    Towards a certification system aligned with international standards

    The work carried out in this first phase has made it possible to define the objectives of a future Tunisian system of energy attribute certificates.

    The aim is to implement a system that will:

    • to meet the voluntary demand for renewable energy
    • to strengthen the transparency and traceability of energy consumption
    • to align Tunisia with international standards, particularly the EN16325 standard relating to Guarantees of Origin

    Such a mechanism constitutes a strategic lever to support companies, particularly industrial ones, in their transition towards more sustainable models that comply with the requirements of international markets.


    A key issue for the competitiveness of the automotive industry

    In a context of decarbonizing global value chains, the implementation of EACs represents a major challenge for the Tunisian automotive industry.

    It will allow companies in the sector to:

    • to demonstrate their commitment to renewable energy consumption
    • to meet the ESG requirements of international clients
    • to strengthen their competitiveness and attractiveness

    TAA's participation in this work is fully in line with its mission to support manufacturers towards international environmental and energy standards .


    An evolving regulatory framework

    The discussions also helped to identify several areas for development in the Tunisian regulatory framework in order to guarantee the implementation of a system:

    • reliable
    • transparent
    • robust

    Various scenarios have been proposed to structure this future system, which will be the subject of further work during the second phase of the project.


    A multi-stakeholder mobilization in service of the energy transition

    The workshop brought together a broad ecosystem of institutional, industrial and international stakeholders, including:

    • the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
    • the European External Action Service
    • the Mediterranean Renewable Energy Center
    • the National Agency for Energy Management
    • the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company

    As well as several industrial players, including the TAA, represented during the panels by Malek Ammar , testifying to the commitment of the automotive sector to energy issues.

    • improving the overall competitiveness of the sector

    The expected service includes:

    • Morning coffee break : a rich assortment of savory and sweet snacks, accompanied by juice.

    • Afternoon break : similar offer including savory, sweet and juice.

    • Transport and delivery : provided by the caterer up to our training academy.
