COFICAB Tunisia has reached a major strategic milestone in its energy transition with the full commissioning of a 2.4 MWp rooftop photovoltaic power plant at its industrial site. This structuring investment positions COFICAB as a committed player in industrial decarbonization and energy efficiency in Tunisia , particularly in the automotive sector.
The solar power plant enables the annual production of approximately 3.9 GWh of renewable electricity , significantly reducing dependence on the national electricity grid and strengthening energy cost control. From an environmental perspective, this project helps avoid nearly 1,720 tonnes of CO₂ per year , equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of more than 86,000 trees .
This project is fully aligned with COFICAB's energy and sustainable performance roadmap , improving the energy security, operational resilience, and long-term competitiveness of its industrial activities. It illustrates a concrete and measurable approach to the transition towards a more responsible industry.
COFICAB Tunisia expresses its gratitude to the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) , the National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME) and Spectra , for their effective collaboration, regulatory support and technical expertise throughout the engineering, implementation and commissioning phases of the project.
This achievement is perfectly consistent with COFICAB's short-term objective of reducing its carbon footprint by 42% by 2030 (Scopes 1 & 2) , confirming that industrial performance and environmental sustainability are now inseparable strategic levers .
